Request Support

A support network that librarians and educators in North Carolina can turn to for guidance when they are experiencing attempts to censor materials or services.  This support is provided by trained volunteers following a set protocol.  We connect you with peer support and resources needed to successfully defend your communities freedom to read and to stay safe while you are doing this important work.

  • Do you have concerns about a patron’s behavior as it relates to intellectual freedom or collection materials?
  • Are you not feeling supported by your supervisor as it relates to intellectual freedom or collection materials?
  • Do you have concerns about your library board, school board, or county commissioner as it relates to intellectual freedom or collection materials?
  • Are you feeling pressure from individuals and organized groups to censor collections?
  • Are you confused about or need help complying with laws or regulations that are vague, consuming and potentially unconstitutional?
  • Do you need help advocating for your library?
  • Do you or your co-workers need more training on intellectual freedom, first amendment rights, conflictual customer interactions or other?
